Sonic Advance remaster

SEGA has started to remaster and bring back a number of different games in the Sonic the Hedgehog series over the past few years, but the same can’t be said of the Sonic Advance titles. However, it sounds like the company has at least some interest in doing so.

For those that are unaware, Sonic Advance saw three different entries on the Game Boy Advance. Each one was largely handled by Dimps. The thing is, they’ve never return after originally launched on the GBA.

SEGA and Atlus today unveiled their full lineup for the 2024 Tokyo Game Show.

Sonic x Shadow Generations will be available from SEGA specifically, and a number of partner titles will also be showcased. Interestingly, Nippon Ichi Software will showcase a currently unannounced title alongside Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero.

Here’s the full TGS 2024 lineup:

Chao Garden game

The Chao Garden is something that’s beloved among SEGA fans in the Sonic the Hedgehog title, but that feature won’t be getting its own standalone game in the near future.

Takashi Iizuka, the boss of Sonic Team, ruled out the possibility in a recent interview. He said that Chao Garden is something that it’s a piece of Sonic Adventure, and doesn’t seem to believe it’d make sense to “just break it off and make it a thing.” Fan interest in Sonic Adventure 3 was also again acknowledged.

Yakuza Kiwami digital no physical release

SEGA announced Yakuza Kiwami for Switch this week, but since then, shared the news that it’s a digital-only release and there won’t be a physical version of any sort.

Yakuza is finally heading to Switch for the first time. However, digital will be your only option – even in Japan. The good news is that SEGA seems to be pricing the game appropriately, and it will only cost $20.

Shadow the Hedgehog Vegeta

Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka took the opportunity to clarify in a recent interview that Shadow the Hedgehog is “not Vegeta in any way.”

Iizuka was speaking with GamesRadar at Gamescom, and was asked if fans have interpreted the character in a different way than how he originally intended. That’s where the talk about Vegeta began.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered physical

Limited Run Games is preparing a physical release of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered in the west, the company just announced.

The game will be offered in the form of three versions: standard, On The Gallian Front Edition, and Ragnite Edition. On The Gallian Front Edition includes an exclusive steelbook and rigid deluxe case. The Ragnite Edition adds a Hans plush, a Squad Commander pin, a metal replica of Edelweiss, and more.

Sonic Generations Doom Powers

SEGA just issued a new Sonic x Shadow Generations trailer which highlights the game’s Doom Powers.

Doom Powers “offer dynamic, action-packed ways of navigating iconic stages and defeating challenging bosses.” Players will be able to use Doom Spear, Doom Blast, Doom Morph, Doom Wing, and Doom Surf throughout the campaign.

Sonic x Shadow Generations Collector's Edition

A special Sonic x Shadow Generations Collector’s Edition will be released in the west. What’s especially interesting is that SEGA has teamed up with Limited Run Games for the release.

A bunch of goodies are included here alongside the game. You’ll get the Art of Sonic x Shadow Generations art book, official soundtrack, Sonic & Shadow Dreamcast statue, commemorative Dreamcast jewel case, steelbook, Chao figurines, Sonic, Shadow and Classic Sonic shoes keychain, and an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.

Super Monkey Ball series sales North America

Although some fans may have been concerned about sales of Super Monkey Ball, especially data that followed the release of Banana Rumble, SEGA says that the series is doing perfectly fine.

In its first week, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble sold just 1,500 copies. That quickly prompted some concern. However, producer Nobuhiro Suzuki recently spoke about the franchise’s sales in a Famitsu interview and pointed to North American players as the current focus of the series and that’s where the IP has done well.
